Frequently Asked Questions

What are the sessions like?

We make space for joy and play, we devise and co-create performances that are led by our young people, their skills, interests and experiences. We teach and support them to collaborate and realise their ideas. Expect games, stories, scenes, movement, writing and making. Each term and session varies depending on our project. You can find more about each group on the pages below.

Does my child need to commit and come every week or can we drop in?

Company members meet every week during term time. The regularity means we can build the group rapport, develop skills and confidence and also work towards performances. We will hold your place for as long as you want to be involved and when you leave or move up to the next company we will offer it to another young person.

If your child can’t make a session, please let us know before the session via our WhatsApp number or text message 07470224522.

Will they have to perform?

Not if they don’t want to. We’re not about churning out singing, dancing and acting kids. We recognise all the incredible roles, skills and qualities needed in creative projects. We will always encourage our young people to be brave and challenge themselves in many areas of performance making.

In in Company 1 we create performances that are shared with family and friends in the familiarity of our Community Centre. In Company 2 &3 we perform both in our home setting and further a field including larger professional venues such as the Bristol Old Vic. We will support our young people to en a variety of

Do I need to drop off and pick up my young person?

Company 1 young people will need to be dropped off and collected by an adult. We will check them out with their adult as the session finishes.

In Company 2 and 3 young people make their own way to and from sessions. If your young person doesn’t arrive we’ll give you a call so do let us know in advance in they are late or not able to attend.

If you prefer to wait there is space in the community cafe area for you to stay and toys for younger children to play with. For any other specific requirements please let us know.

How much does it cost?

Regular places: £36 a month, spread over 11 months of the year (no payment taken in August) this levels up to the same cost as swimming lessons. All of the additional theatre trips, experiences or workshops are included in the monthly payment at no extra cost to you.

We never want money to be a barrier for families. We think all young people should have access to activities outside of school that are fun and free. We know young people from lower income backgrounds and BIPOC (black, Indigenous, person of colour) are under represented in the arts, especially theatre. We also know that a diverse group that is a true representation of our community makes our work creatively richer.

Fully funded and part funded places: These places are free or 50% reduced price for young people who wouldn’t otherwise be able to attend. We have places for young people loving in BS5 from lower income families and prioritise BIPOC. If you would like a funded or part funded place for your young person please let us know in the join form. It’s helpful to know if your young person gets PP or free school meals.

Can I send two of my kids?

We offer a 10% discount when more than one child from the same family attends.
